LayerTwo Labs Launches eCash Network Featuring Five Sidechains
US-based developer LayerTwo Labs has activated the eCash mainnet, utilizing Drivechain architecture to enable sidechain development on a Bitcoin fork.

LayerTwo Labs launched the mainnet for eCash on October 29. The network, a Bitcoin hard fork, employs a Drivechain design intended to allow developers to build sidechains without altering the underlying Bitcoin protocol.
The network went live with five initial sidechains targeting payments, privacy, digital assets, identity verification, and prediction markets. According to LayerTwo Labs, two additional sidechains are currently in the development pipeline.
The launch also introduced the ECX cryptocurrency. Bitcoin holders at the time of the network snapshot were issued ECX at a 1:1 ratio. Users maintaining self-custody can utilize splitting tools integrated into the eCash mobile wallet to manage their BTC and ECX holdings separately.
