Former Paramount communications director Lauren Paige found a new career path after losing her job. A single brunch in New Orleans became a catalyst for her professional reinvention.
Lauren Paige, who previously held a director of communications role at Paramount, experienced a significant career shift following her layoff. After more than a decade building a career in communications, including leading press for brands like Showtime and MTV, Paige found her professional identity challenged.
"It was surreal more than anything," Paige stated. "I had spent years building my career and had reached the senior level at one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. Suddenly, that chapter was over. What hit me was the reality of, okay, what happens now?"
The timing of the layoff was particularly difficult, occurring just six months after a personal breakup and relocation back to New Orleans. This meant both her personal and professional lives underwent substantial changes within a short period.
However, the job loss marked the beginning of a new direction. Paige decided to leverage the situation, turning a New Orleans brunch into an unexpected opportunity. This experience ultimately led to her building a community, both online and in person, which provided a new sense of purpose and career trajectory.
