Leadership Conduct Impacts Business Value, Analyst Argues

Robert M. Clinger III, Managing Director of Highland Global Business Valuations, has released a new book titled "Experience Matters Most: How Leadership Conduct Compounds—or Destroys—Value." The book contends that leadership conduct is a significant economic input that directly influences a company's valuation, rather than merely being a soft skill.

According to Clinger, most businesses do not experience value loss from a single, dramatic failure. Instead, value erodes gradually through numerous small, unrecorded decisions and actions. He outlines a causal chain where leadership conduct affects trust, operational efficiency, and continuity, which in turn impacts the cost of capital and the overall enterprise value.

The book draws on Clinger's experience conducting over 10,000 business valuations for various entities, including privately held companies and lenders like the SBA (Small Business Administration). It features ten case studies demonstrating how leadership actions have compounded or destroyed business value over decades.

"Experience Matters Most" is intended for business owners, CEOs, lenders, deal professionals, and advisors. This is Clinger's fourth book and the first outside his previous "Seven Deadly Sins of Business Valuation" series. It is available on Amazon in both paperback and ebook formats.
