LeadingAge Partners with ICAA for Active Aging Week 2026
LeadingAge, representing over 5,300 nonprofit aging service providers, will support Active Aging Week 2026 in partnership with the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). The collaboration aims to expand nationwide participation.
LeadingAge, an association representing more than 5,300 nonprofit and mission-driven aging services providers, has announced its support for Active Aging Week 2026. Presented by Humana and organized by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the initiative aims to increase participation nationwide.
The partnership will encourage organizations across the United States to host programs and events that celebrate positive aging. The goal is to promote the health, well-being, purpose, and social connection of older adults, challenging societal perceptions of aging. Active Aging Week is in its 24th year and has grown into a global campaign.
In 2025, the event saw over 5,000 organizations in 14 countries host more than 20,000 events, engaging over one million participants. LeadingAge will leverage its network to inspire communities to recognize the continued contributions of older adults.
Active Aging Week 2026 is scheduled for October 5–11. Events will take place in senior living communities, wellness centers, and various community venues. ICAA CEO Colin Milner stated the week challenges outdated perceptions of aging, while LeadingAge CEO Katie Smith Sloan highlighted the shared commitment to promoting well-being and engagement for older adults.
