Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor has commenced local production of its B10 model at Stellantis's manufacturing plant in Zaragoza, Spain. The first vehicles are expected to roll off the production line this week. This move signifies a key step in the company's strategy to expand its international footprint by establishing local manufacturing capabilities beyond direct exports.

Leapmotor plans to produce 9,000 units of the B10 model at the Zaragoza facility in 2026, targeting sales in Spain, France, and Italy. Additionally, the Leapmotor Lafa5 is scheduled to be introduced at the same plant in the first quarter of 2027. The company has stated its ambition for over 40 percent of its vehicles sold internationally to be produced locally in the coming years.

The company has reported significant growth, with 105,656 vehicles delivered globally in September, a 59 percent increase year-over-year. This marks the third consecutive month exceeding 100,000 deliveries. International exports reached over 27,000 units in September alone, with cumulative exports reaching over 150,000 units from January to September 2026. Leapmotor has also expanded its sales and service network in Europe to over 1,000 locations.

The initiation of local production in Europe is expected to bolster Leapmotor's presence in the international automotive market and enhance its ability to meet regional demand and regulatory requirements.
