Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor has initiated a recall affecting over 322,000 vehicles, specifically models C11 and C01. The recall addresses a safety concern related to the interior emergency mechanical release handles.

According to market surveillance authorities, the affected vehicles include C01 models produced between August 7, 2022, and November 29, 2025 (48,625 units), and C11 models produced between September 20, 2021, and April 21, 2026 (322,575 units). The total number of recalled vehicles is 371,200, though the press release specifies 322,575 units, implying the C11 models constitute the majority.

The issue stems from the emergency release handles having a color similar to the interior trim, making them difficult to identify and operate. In extreme situations, such as a severe collision where the vehicle's low-voltage system fails, this could impede occupants' ability to quickly open doors and escape the vehicle.

Leapmotor plans to rectify this by offering a free solution. Vehicles within the recall scope will have warning labels applied near the interior emergency mechanical release handles. Additionally, the company will update the window control software via an over-the-air (OTA) update. This update will introduce a post-accident window lowering strategy to mitigate the safety hazard.
