Leapmotor unveils LEAP 5.0 vehicle architecture
Chinese automaker Leapmotor has introduced its new LEAP 5.0 vehicle architecture, which it claims maximizes interior space. Vehicles utilizing the new architecture are slated for release next year.

Chinese automaker Leapmotor has unveiled its new LEAP 5.0 vehicle architecture. The company states that the architecture is designed to maximize vehicle interior space and will be implemented in car models launching next year.
Leapmotor describes LEAP 5.0 as the first whole-vehicle architecture focused on the concept of "mobile space." The architecture deeply integrates the vehicle's various systems, allowing for space reconfiguration. For instance, the integration of the air conditioning system frees up cabin space, and the rearward placement of the powertrain enables the expansion of the front compartment. The company indicates this increases cabin space by 19% compared to previous models.
Furthermore, a redesigned suspension system and smaller shock absorber towers are said to increase legroom by 37.5%. The vehicle's height has been increased and the floor lowered, improving vertical space and reducing the floor level. Leapmotor claims the architecture allows for 100% utilization of the wheelbase space, with the overall interior utility exceeding 100% relative to traditional measurements.
The new architecture also incorporates energy efficiency enhancements, such as an integrated energy management system. The company claims static energy consumption has decreased by 36% and energy utilization efficiency is near 100%. The integrated air conditioning system and its external placement are said to reduce the number of components in the thermal management system and free up dashboard space.
