Legaltech Firm Harvey Expands in Europe, Plans to Double Headcount

US legaltech unicorn Harvey is undertaking a significant expansion across Europe, introducing increased competition for the region's domestic startups. The company intends to double its workforce in Europe by the end of 2026.

Harvey, founded in Los Angeles in 2019 and securing substantial funding in 2023, has already established offices in London, Paris, and Dublin. The goal is to extend its services to encompass the entire European market.

Jorge Bestard, Harvey's VP for EMEA, indicated that the company is continuously seeking new growth opportunities. "When we see an opportunity, we'll go for it," Bestard stated. He noted that the number of employees in Europe is rapidly increasing, with the company planning ongoing recruitment.

Harvey specializes in AI-powered legal tools designed to assist lawyers in analyzing large volumes of data, drafting documents, and researching cases. The company successfully raised $87.6 million in a Series B funding round, valuing it at $3.7 billion. Competitors include UK-based Luminance and France's Casechek.

The European expansion appears strategically important for Harvey as it aims to solidify its position as a leading global legaltech player. The company's objective is to help legal professionals enhance their efficiency and improve service quality through AI.
