Billund, Denmark – June 2, 2026 – The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International today unveiled their latest LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets. Children can now build and play with their favorite Pokémon characters in an even more interactive manner.
The new sets utilize LEGO SMART Play technology, which enables screen-free, interactive play. This technology allows the LEGO Pokémon characters to respond to a child's actions through light, sound, and motion, without the need for a separate screen. The aim is to deepen the bond between the player and the character through training, nurturing, and battles.
A total of twelve new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets will be released, featuring popular characters such as Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, and Gengar. For instance, a Pikachu set includes a buildable treehouse and accessories for feeding and caring for Pikachu, while the Charizard vs. Jolteon set depicts a battle between two characters.
Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at LEGO Group, emphasized that SMART Play technology expands the LEGO System and introduces new dimensions to play. Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, added that the collaboration with LEGO Group brings the joy and connection of the Pokémon world to life in a new way through interactive play.
The new series will include two "All-In-One" sets, providing everything needed for a SMART Play experience, and ten "Compatible" sets that expand the existing play experience. The sets are designed for builders aged six and up.
