LEGO Education Introduces Computer Science and AI Curriculum for K-8
LEGO Education has announced a new hands-on solution and curriculum for teaching computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) to K-8 students, aiming to address a lack of suitable tools for educators and improve student understanding of technology.

LEGO Education announced on January 12, 2026, a new hands-on solution and curriculum designed to teach computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) concepts in K-8 classrooms. Set to begin shipping in April 2026, the offering aims to foster collaboration, creativity, and enhanced learning outcomes.
The LEGO Education Computer Science & AI solution is intended to expand schools' access to critical instruction in these fields. According to the company, teachers often report a lack of appropriate tools, and broader reports suggest students find current resources unengaging or unrelatable. Many teachers believe AI literacy is vital for students' futures, yet a significant percentage of schools are unprepared to teach it responsibly.
The curriculum is designed for three grade bands: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. It incorporates LEGO bricks and hardware with the digital LEGO Education Coding Canvas, allowing for a blend of screen-free and screen-based lessons. The approach focuses on hands-on exploration and collaborative learning.
This launch also coincides with the retirement of the LEGO Education SPIKE Portfolio, including SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Essential. LEGO Education Computer Science & AI kits will start shipping in April 2026, with individual kits priced from $339.95.
