LEGO Group awards over $1.3 Million in grants to Central Virginia organizations

RICHMOND, VA – February 19, 2026 – The LEGO Group has announced a commitment of over $1.3 million in grants to eight nonprofit organizations serving the Greater Richmond area. This funding, provided by the LEGO Foundation, aims to enhance playful learning and development opportunities for children and families.

The new grants expand upon previous support for six organizations and include Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and Girls For A Change. Since 2022, the LEGO Group has awarded more than $3.5 million in grants to organizations in the region, impacting over one million children. Employee volunteer efforts in 2025 saw LEGO Manufacturing Virginia employees contribute over 2,000 service hours to local initiatives.

These community contributions align with the company's significant investments in the region. A new LEGO Manufacturing Virginia facility is under construction in Chesterfield County, slated to create over 1,700 jobs and open in 2027. Additionally, a regional distribution center is being built in Prince George County.

"We are proud to support the work of these incredible organizations that help make a difference in children’s lives every day," said Jesus Ibañez, General Manager of LEGO Manufacturing Virginia. "As we continue to build our factory, we become increasingly rooted in the community, and we’re dedicated to making a positive impact and bringing play to more children in the area."
