LEGO Group Launches BETA 'Build Together' Group Building Feature
The LEGO Group has released a BETA version of its 'Build Together' feature within the LEGO Building Instructions app. The new functionality enables multiple users to physically construct LEGO sets collaboratively in a social setting.

Billund, Denmark – The LEGO Group announced on December 8, 2021, the upcoming launch of 'Build Together', a new feature for its Building Instructions app. This digital tool aims to transform the physical construction of LEGO sets into a shared, cooperative activity for families and friends.
The concept originated from LEGO fan Dominik Brachmanski of Germany. The BETA version will be rolled out globally to gather user feedback for optimization before potential wider implementation. Currently, the feature supports six specific LEGO sets, with plans to expand compatibility. 'Build Together' operates in all languages supported by the app, though initial promotional efforts will target English-speaking markets.
The experience allows for up to five participants, each requiring a smart device with an internet connection. One participant must also own a compatible LEGO set marked with 'Build Together Enabled SKU'. Users join a shared building session by scanning a QR code found in the physical instruction booklet. The app then assigns individual building tasks to each participant and facilitates the handover of sub-assemblies.
LEGO Group developed 'Build Together' in close collaboration with Brachmanski. The company anticipates that feedback from the BETA phase will demonstrate fan demand for such collaborative features, potentially leading to future scaling. The feature is being positioned as an ideal activity for the upcoming holiday season, promoting teamwork and communication skills alongside play.
