LEGO Icons Tropical Aquarium: Three Customization Options Revealed

LEGO GmbH has released a guide outlining three methods for customizing the LEGO Icons Tropical Aquarium building set. The instructions enable builders to personalize their aquarium's appearance by adding more flora, modifying the seabed, and rearranging the aquascape elements.

The first suggested customization method involves incorporating additional plants and corals into the aquarium. Builders can create multiple versions of the set's plant builds or experiment with their own designs. LEGO Designer Sven Franic noted that organic shapes are "forgiving," allowing for creative freedom. Furthermore, the set's fish builds can be recreated in different colors, or entirely new fish species can be designed.

A second approach to enhancing the aquarium's look is by altering its seabed. Utilizing elements such as 1x1 round plates, for instance, can create a sand-like texture. Color choices like sand yellow, medium nougat, or reddish brown can establish natural tones. Blue and transparent pieces can simulate water movement and reflections, while vibrant colors such as orange or yellow can add liveliness. Additionally, bubbles can be represented with transparent elements, or sandbanks and caves can be constructed.

The third method focuses on rearranging the aquarium's existing elements. This requires no additional parts and can completely change the build's aesthetic. Builders can experiment with various layouts, such as grouping plants and fish or organizing by color. Combining two LEGO Icons Tropical Aquarium sets is also an option to create a longer aquarium, or removing and joining the background panels can add further depth.
