Lego Launches Donkey Kong Arcade Machine Building Set

Lego has released a new building set modeling the iconic Donkey Kong arcade machine. The set was designed by Carl Merriam, who has previously helmed popular nostalgia-driven sets like the Lego Nintendo Game Boy and Piranha Plant.

Reports indicate that Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario franchise, has approved and favored the new set. While the build does not perfectly replicate the original game's mechanics, it features a functional joystick and allows for a playable experience.

The gameplay mechanics differ from the original Donkey Kong, where the character Jumpman (later renamed Mario) cannot reach the top of the game solely through his own actions. However, the set's functionality is comparable to Lego's previously released functional pinball machine.

This new Donkey Kong building set offers fans a chance to assemble a piece of gaming history and a unique display item for their collections.
