Lenovo Kaitian launches AI desktop featuring Zhaoxin processor and Houmo NPU
Lenovo Kaitian has introduced a new desktop computer designed for local AI processing, utilizing a Zhaoxin KX-7000 processor and a Houmo LQ50 NPU.
Lenovo Kaitian, a subsidiary focused on the domestic Chinese IT market, has released its latest desktop workstation. The unit integrates a Zhaoxin KX-7000 eight-core processor with a Houmo Intelligent Technology LQ50 NPU, providing up to 160 TOPS of AI computing power to support large language models up to 35 billion parameters.
Designed for enterprise users, the system runs on the Kylin operating system and comes equipped with the Tianxi AI Pro software suite. The hardware includes 24GB of memory dedicated to the NPU, achieving a memory bandwidth of 153.6GB/s. The device is compatible with various open-source models, including the Qwen 3.5 and 3.6 series.
To manage the thermal output of the AI-focused architecture, the company implemented a dual-duct cooling system with hexagonal intake panels and turbine fans. Testing indicates that the system maintains external temperatures between 33°C and 41°C under various loads, with noise levels remaining under 30dB during heavy inference tasks.
This release aligns with broader industry efforts in China to foster local IT ecosystems, prioritizing the use of domestic silicon for machine learning workloads in corporate environments.
