Lenzing to Install New ANDRITZ Debarking and Chipping Line
Lenzing AG has ordered a new debarking and chipping line from ANDRITZ for its Austrian pulp mill. The technology is expected to improve wood raw material utilization and will be operational in late 2027.

Lenzing AG has awarded ANDRITZ an order to supply a complete debarking and chipping line for its pulp mill in Austria. The new line is scheduled to start up in the fourth quarter of 2027 and will process 400 cubic meters of logs per hour.
The system will feature ANDRITZ's HHQ-Chipper with its TurnKnife system and a frequency converter for speed optimization, aimed at enhancing wood raw material efficiency, reducing losses, and ensuring high chip quality for dissolving pulp production. It will also include a hydrostatically supported debarking drum designed for demanding requirements and an efficient log washing system.
ANDRITZ will also provide a complete automation, electrification, and instrumentation package, along with detailed engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning. This investment continues the long-standing relationship between Lenzing and ANDRITZ, which previously supplied a similar line in 2003.
The order also marks a milestone for ANDRITZ, as it includes the 200th HHQ-Chipper delivered by the company. The value of the order was not disclosed and was included in ANDRITZ's first-quarter 2026 order intake.
