Leo Capital establishes venture capital presence in Helsinki

Venture capital firm Leo Capital has established a presence in Helsinki, bringing new capital and expertise to Finland's technology sector. The firm has raised a €25 million early-stage B2B fund, targeting investments in Finnish and Nordic growth companies.

Leo Capital's investment focus is on deep technology, healthtech, and fintech. The firm aims to support Finnish startups in their international expansion and transition into global players. The company has already invested in several promising Finnish businesses, including QuantrolOx, NROC Security, and Blueprint Crusher.

Shwetank Verma, Managing Partner at Leo Capital, highlights Helsinki's appeal as an investment destination. "Despite its small size, Finland consistently produces global behemoths," Verma stated. "This makes Helsinki a very attractive location for early-stage investors with an international outlook."

Another significant investment target is Solid IO, a University of Helsinki spin-off developing a "tumor-on-chip" technology for immunotherapy. This technology is expected to revolutionize the development of cancer treatments.

Leo Capital's decision to set up a permanent office in Helsinki underscores Finland's growing role as a technology hub in Europe. The firm's presence will not only provide funding but also valuable international experience and networks to help Finnish companies compete on the global stage.
