Lepage Millwork Demonstrates Trade Resilience Amid Tariffs

Quebec-based Lepage Millwork, a manufacturer of high-quality doors and windows, demonstrated significant resilience during the imposition of tariffs in 2025. The company swiftly responded to the changing trade landscape by developing a game plan over a weekend and communicating it to staff on Monday.

General Manager François-Xavier Bonneville stated that Lepage Millwork kept clients informed and shared additional costs with them, fostering a spirit of partnership. The company also delayed some orders in hopes that the tariffs would be temporary. By maintaining open communication with customers, suppliers, and employees, Lepage Millwork successfully navigated a difficult period.

A hybrid approach combining artisanal expertise with industrial scale manufacturing has helped the company differentiate itself in the market. It focuses on producing high-quality, custom products, which has proven successful, particularly in the U.S. market, its primary growth driver.

Addressing labor shortages and the departure of experienced staff, Lepage Millwork established Lepage Academy, a structured training program. This initiative facilitates the integration of new employees and ensures knowledge transfer. The company is also investing in process documentation and standardization, including the use of automation and artificial intelligence in production and planning to enhance competitiveness.
