Lexar's Muse SSD measures just 3.8mm thick
Lexar is releasing the Muse, an ultra-slim portable SSD measuring 3.8mm at its thickest point. The drive offers read speeds up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds up to 1,000MB/s.
Lexar is set to launch the Muse, a new portable SSD aiming for the title of the slimmest drive on the market. The device measures a mere 3.8mm at its thickest point in the center, tapering to 1mm at the edges.
Inside, the Muse SSD utilizes high-density NAND stacking and a custom ultra-thin PCB architecture. It will be available in 512GB and 1TB capacities at launch.
Beyond its slim profile, the Lexar Muse offers competitive performance. Read speeds are rated up to 1,050MB/s, with write speeds reaching 1,000MB/s. These speeds are sufficient for recording 4K Apple ProRes video at up to 120fps.
The drive is scheduled for release later this year. Lexar follows a trend of hardware manufacturers reducing device thickness, sometimes at the expense of certain ports.
