Lexus Unveils New TZ All-Electric SUV

Toyota Motor Corporation's luxury division, Lexus, has unveiled the new TZ model, a large all-electric SUV. The vehicle is designed to strengthen Lexus's presence in the luxury segment and offers features intended to replicate the driving experience of internal combustion engine vehicles.

The Lexus TZ measures over 5 meters in length, positioning it as a significant offering in the SUV market. The interior accommodates six individual seats, with provisions for child seats also available in the third row. While specific cargo volume figures have not been released, Lexus states it can hold four 55-liter suitcases or two 92-liter cases, even with the third row in use. A panoramic glass roof extends across all seats and can be opened.

For enhanced passenger comfort, Lexus has developed a "Rear Comfort" mode, which reportedly reduces lateral head movement through dynamic rear-wheel steering and optimized brake force distribution. Additionally, an "Interactive Manual Drive" mode simulates the feel and sound of gear changes from a combustion engine, offering eight virtual gears controlled by the driver's throttle input and vehicle speed.

The TZ also features an "Eco-Run" mode designed to maximize range. This system assesses, over five levels, how a preceding vehicle contributes to reducing air resistance, with Lexus suggesting drivers can identify optimal vehicles to follow for drafting.

The model will launch with two powertrain options and two battery capacities. Pricing and specific market release dates have not yet been announced.
