LG 360 CAM Facilitates 360-Degree Content Creation for Google Street View
LG Electronics' new 360 CAM camera aims to simplify the creation and sharing of 360-degree photos and videos. The device is optimized for Google Street View.

LG Electronics unveiled its 360 CAM camera in March 2016, designed to make the creation and sharing of full 360-degree content more accessible. Introduced at the Mobile World Congress, the device is expected to boost user interest in producing immersive visual material.
The LG 360 CAM aims to differentiate itself from traditional panoramic cameras by offering a complete spherical field of view, encompassing both the sky and the ground. With its compact size and high-resolution images, the camera is among the first devices on the market to support the growing trend of 360-degree content. It is also the first camera from a smartphone manufacturer optimized for Google Street View, utilizing Google's supported Open Spherical Camera (OSC) API.
Users of the LG 360 CAM can easily capture and share their 360-degree content by installing the free Google Street View app on their iOS or Android smartphone. The LG 360 CAM features three microphones for recording 5.1-channel surround sound. The device's 1,200 mAh battery supports up to 70 minutes of video recording, and storage can be expanded with a microSD card up to 2 terabytes.
Google representatives have welcomed the new camera, recognizing its potential to enhance users' ability to create and share 360-degree content on the Google Street View platform. LG's objective is to foster a new mobile ecosystem where users can easily create and share their own content, moving beyond the expensive and complex equipment previously required.
