LG and Microsoft Collaborate on AI Voice Assistant for Smart Homes

LG Electronics has unveiled an AI voice assistant for smart homes, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, at an industry event in Seoul. The assistant is designed for integration with LG's ThinQ ON smart home hub and promises a conversational experience closer to human interaction.
The technology utilizes a 'speech-to-speech' intelligent agent and incorporates Microsoft's Voice Live feature. A key capability allows users to interrupt the AI assistant's response and pose new questions. The system can immediately understand the new intent and switch conversational topics.
LG plans to launch ThinQ ON devices featuring the new voice assistant within the year. Existing ThinQ ON users will also receive a functional update. The company envisions applications for the assistant beyond residential use, including commercial settings such as hotels, offices, and retail stores.
