LG Develops Distortion-Free OLED Automotive Displays

LG Electronics has developed a new technology for automotive OLED displays designed to mitigate distortion caused by viewing angles. This advancement ensures consistent brightness and distortion-free colors, improving clarity for drivers and passengers.

The development addresses the growing demand for advanced displays in vehicles as the industry shifts towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The trend highlights the increasing importance of integrated screen technology for infotainment systems and overall user experience.

OLED panels, known for their superior image quality and design flexibility, are increasingly adopted in premium vehicles. Market research firm Omdia projects that by 2030, half of the information display units in premium vehicles will be OLED panels.

LG's Vehicle Component Solutions (VS) Company's research and development team created the algorithm, which was first showcased at Display Week 2024. This technology aims to enhance safety by reducing the time needed to process on-screen information.
