LG Display Develops New OLED Patterning Method

LG Display, a global display technology company, announced the development of a novel OLED patterning method that bypasses the traditional Fine Metal Mask (FMM) process.

The new technique, dubbed FLiPP (Fine Line Lithography), is expected to enable more efficient and potentially cost-effective manufacturing of OLED panels. The FMM process has long been a significant technological hurdle in OLED production, impacting resolution capabilities and manufacturing expenses.

By eliminating FMM, FLiPP is anticipated to unlock advancements in OLED display development, including the achievement of higher resolutions and smaller pixel pitches. This could translate to sharper and more detailed image quality for televisions and other devices utilizing OLED technology.

LG Display has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the timeline for FLiPP's commercialization or its projected impact on consumer products. This development marks a notable step forward in the evolution of OLED technology.
