LG Electronics Enters U.S. EV Charging Market

LG Electronics announced its entry into the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) charging market, set to begin in 2024 with the introduction of its first series of AC and DC charging stations. The company's move targets businesses, municipalities, and other public venues looking to own and operate their own charging infrastructure.

Nicolas Min, Senior Vice President at LG Business Solutions USA, stated that the company is committed to supporting the development of EV infrastructure, which is critical for the nation's clean energy goals. LG aims to offer a flexible range of charging solutions to meet the growing demand for EV charging.

The initial product lineup will feature Level 2 AC chargers, offering 11kW of output power through a standard SAE J1772 connector. These chargers are designed for easy wall mounting, with an optional stand for flexible placement.

LG also plans to release a Level 3 DC charger designed for fast charging, capable of up to 175kW. This model will support both CCS1 and NACS connectors and include a large outdoor LCD touchscreen.
