LG Electronics expands materials division with antimicrobial glass powder launch
LG Electronics has introduced PuroTec, an antimicrobial glass powder designed for integration into manufacturing materials such as plastic, rubber, and paint.

LG Electronics is diversifying its B2B portfolio with the launch of PuroTec, an antimicrobial glass powder. The material, which is designed to inhibit microbial growth and reduce odors, is intended for use in a variety of industrial applications, including plastic and rubber manufacturing.
The development of this material follows decades of research, with LG citing over 200 patents related to glass powder technology since development began in 1996. Production is centralized at the company’s Changwon facility in South Korea, which maintains an annual manufacturing capacity of 4,500 tons.
As part of its growth strategy, LG is focusing on expanding the availability of PuroTec across Asian markets, specifically China, Vietnam, and India. The company projects a year-on-year sales increase of more than 700 percent for its antimicrobial material division as it seeks to capture further demand in the industrial and consumer product sectors.
