LG Electronics India to Install Solar Modules on Factory Rooftops
LG Electronics India (LGEIL) is undertaking a new Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project involving the installation of solar modules on its manufacturing facilities in Noida and Pune. The initiative aims to increase renewable energy use and reduce carbon emissions.

LG Electronics India Launches New Solar Power Initiative
LG Electronics India (LGEIL) has announced the development of a new Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project, which will see solar modules installed on the rooftops of its manufacturing plants in India. This project is designed to enhance the use of renewable energy sources and contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
The project targets LGEIL's facilities located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Pune, Maharashtra. The Noida plant will feature 3.1 MWp of solar modules, while the Pune facility will be equipped with 3.0 MWp. The electricity generated will be utilized to power the main operations and equipment within the factories, thereby lowering electricity costs and reducing the reliance on conventional power.
LGEIL states that the project is expected to improve air quality by decreasing the load on power plants. The company has previously operated a pilot project at its Noida site, installing a 248.2 kW solar module system. This new initiative is planned to have a lifespan of 10 years.
In line with CDM requirements, LGEIL conducted a local stakeholders consultation meeting for the project in Greater Noida in September 2019, inviting participation from the public.
