LG Electronics Opens ThinQ API for Smart Home Development
LG Electronics has opened the Application Programming Interface (API) for its ThinQ smart home platform, enabling developers to integrate LG appliances. This initiative aims to foster innovation and create more tailored smart home experiences.

LG Electronics has fully opened the Application Programming Interface (API) of its ThinQ smart home platform, allowing developers to create smart spaces incorporating LG appliances. The company launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website to provide access to the API for both individual developers and corporate partners.
The API acts as a digital connector, enabling seamless exchange of functions and data between different software systems. Developers can utilize the open API to integrate features from LG's AI-powered appliances into their own programs or systems, enhancing existing services and enabling new applications.
LG's ThinQ API is divided into two categories: the ThinQ API for individual users and the ThinQ Business API for corporate partners. The individual user API allows for remote control and monitoring of LG AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app, enabling integration with various smart home platforms. For instance, users of the Home Assistant platform can now connect and control 26 types of LG AI appliances within their existing smart home environment.
The ThinQ Business API supports partners operating commercial and residential buildings by allowing them to integrate and manage LG products, ranging from appliances to HVAC systems and digital signage, with their existing applications. This move is expected to simplify building management and enhance user experiences in smart environments.
