LG Energy Solution to Activate Nanjing Factory 9 This Year

LG Energy Solution is expected to activate its Nanjing Factory 9 in China before the end of this year. The facility's activation is intended to address the increasing demand for cylindrical batteries from downstream customers, including Tesla.

The Nanjing Factory 9, completed two to three years ago, currently houses two production lines that have not yet been formally operational. This new factory is positioned to align with LG Energy Solution's flagship facility in Nanjing, Factory 6, which has an annual production capacity of approximately 30 GWh.

Initially, each production line at Factory 9 is projected to have an annual capacity of about 2 GWh. As expansion efforts continue, the overall capacity is anticipated to surpass 10 GWh. This capacity increase is crucial for LG Energy Solution to maintain its supply commitments to key automotive clients.
