LG ERV Enhances Residential Energy Efficiency and Air Quality
LG Electronics introduces its Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) for residences, aiming to reduce energy loss and improve indoor air quality amidst tightening building regulations.

LG Electronics has introduced its Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) for residential applications, designed to meet increasing demands for energy efficiency and improved indoor air quality in buildings. The unit aims to assist builders and homeowners in adhering to standards for Nearly Zero-Emission Buildings (NZEB) and future Zero-Emission Buildings (ZEB).
Global regulations concerning the energy performance of new buildings are becoming more stringent. While this trend leads to better insulation and airtightness, it can negatively impact indoor air quality as stale air struggles to escape. LG's ERV system utilizes a total heat exchanger that recovers heat from exhausted indoor air and transfers it to pre-heat or pre-cool incoming fresh outdoor air. Test results indicate that over 80% of the heat from the return air can be recovered.
Energy savings are achieved through both the highly efficient heat exchanger and the ERV's smart functionality. The system automatically adjusts its operation to minimize runtime and avoid unnecessary operation when conditions are favorable, contributing to reduced living costs and environmental impact.
Enhancing indoor air quality is another key objective. The ERV system filters allergens, pollen, and fine dust from the incoming outdoor air, ensuring clean air circulation while removing harmful contaminants. This contributes to a healthier living environment within homes.
