LG Electronics has released a guide detailing methods for customers to reduce operational noise from their refrigerators. The advice focuses on basic maintenance and advanced technological features.

The company suggests that common refrigerator noises stem from the compressor cycling on and off. Initial steps recommended involve ensuring the appliance is correctly leveled on the floor and that the condenser coils are clean. Maintaining adequate space around the refrigerator is also advised to promote proper ventilation and reduce strain.

For persistent noise issues, LG highlights the role of compressor technology. Their Smart Inverter Compressor operates at variable speeds, adjusting continuously rather than engaging in abrupt start-and-stop cycles. This continuous operation is designed to minimize vibrations and humming sounds at their source.

According to LG, most refrigerators operate within a decibel range of 32 to 47 dB, comparable to a quiet library. Sounds exceeding 50 dB may be considered intrusive. Normal operating sounds include gurgling, light buzzing, and occasional clicks as the compressor engages. However, persistent loud rattling or grinding noises may indicate a need for further inspection.
