LG Researcher Discusses Air-to-Water Heat Pump Technology and European Market

LG Electronics Senior Researcher Dong-Gwang Jeong has detailed the company's progress in air-to-water heat pump (AWHP) technology, highlighting its potential impact on the European market. Jeong, with 13 years of experience in the cooling and air conditioning industry, has focused on developing inverter products and advanced heat pump systems.

A key development discussed is the creation of high-temperature AWHP products. This project involved implementing a two-stage cascade refrigeration cycle, a departure from traditional single-stage systems. The development process spanned from initial design through mass production and addressing field issues, significantly advancing Jeong's expertise in heat pump cycles.

LG Electronics is expanding its AWHP applications to include waste heat recovery systems, hybrid air and water source heat pumps, and gas boiler hybrid systems. These initiatives aim to meet the increasing demand for energy-efficient heating solutions across Europe.

The interview also touched upon past client collaborations, including LG's work with Chinese companies needing enhanced heating capacity in cold climates. Providing specialized scroll and rotary two-stage compressors with Variable Injection (VI) function and offering technical support for complex cycle systems demonstrate LG's commitment to delivering tailored solutions to its global clientele.
