Li Auto: Carmaker Focus on Battery Core Technology Benefits Industry

Li Auto CEO Li Xiang has asserted that car manufacturers deepening their research into core battery technology is beneficial for the development of the industry and the interests of consumers. Xiang explained that a large-scale industry requires two legs to move forward: specialized suppliers who deeply understand products, and system integrators who deeply research core technologies.

He warned that relying on only one leg, or "hopping on one foot," makes it difficult for the industry to progress sustainably. This can lead companies to engage in volume-based competition, while aspects truly valued by users, such as performance, quality, safety, and lifespan, may stagnate.

Xiang believes the automotive sector needs both battery companies that deeply understand intelligent electric vehicles and intelligent electric vehicle companies that deeply understand batteries. Li Auto aims to be the latter, collaborating with expert battery suppliers to advance solutions for long-standing issues.

Li Auto held its Power Day event on October 20th, where it announced its latest technological advancements, showcasing its approach to EV battery technology.
