Li Auto Denies Allegations of Massive Surplus Inventory at Changzhou Facility
Li Auto has addressed online rumors claiming that over 10,000 unsold vehicles were stockpiled at its Changzhou parking facility, clarifying that the site holds a mix of test vehicles and current inventory.
A viral video depicting a large number of Li Auto vehicles parked at a facility in Changzhou sparked online speculation suggesting the company was storing thousands of 'zero-mile' used cars to manipulate registration data. Critics alleged the parking lot contained over 10,000 units, fueling rumors regarding the company's inventory health.
Zhou Ruoyu, a senior manager for Li Auto’s product line, refuted the claims on Saturday. Zhou clarified that the video captured the company's Gehu storage site, which houses a collection of former showroom display units and test-drive vehicles from various regions that are already registered. According to the company, the number of vehicles currently at the site is in the hundreds, not thousands.
Furthermore, management noted that the total capacity of the Changzhou storage facility is capped at 3,900 spaces, rendering claims of a 10,000-vehicle surplus physically impossible. The company stated that the used vehicles are currently being processed through standard disposal channels, while the central area of the lot holds active new vehicle inventory.
