Li Auto i6 Production Reduced Due to Headlight Supply Issue
Li Auto's i6 electric SUV experienced a production shortfall of approximately 4,000 vehicles in mid-to-late July due to a temporary disruption in headlight supply. Production has since normalized.
Chinese automaker Li Auto reported a production delay for its i6 electric SUV model. Li Xinyang, head of Li Auto's product line, stated in late July that a brief disruption in the supply of headlights in mid-to-late July led to a reduction in production by an estimated 4,000 vehicles compared to initial plans.
The issue stemmed from a temporary fluctuation in the headlight supply chain. The company has since normalized headlight supplies and vehicle assembly. Li Auto is collaborating with its supply chain partners to accelerate production and mitigate any impact on delivery times for customers who have already placed orders.
The Li Auto i6, a fully electric SUV, began deliveries in September 2025 from the company's intelligent manufacturing base in Changzhou. The model has achieved consistent sales, exceeding 20,000 units per month for four consecutive months. The starting price for the i6 is RMB 249,800.
The vehicle features a 3-meter wheelbase, a five-seat configuration, a 16.8-inch head-up display, and dual 3K resolution screens on the dashboard. Rear passengers have access to a 21.4-inch 3K screen. The i6 is equipped with Li Auto's proprietary MindGPT large language model. It also utilizes a 5C lithium iron phosphate battery, supporting charging speeds exceeding 500 kW and offering a CLTC range of up to 720 km.
