Li Auto's self-developed safety controller receives highest ASIL D certification
Chinese electric vehicle maker Li Auto announced its self-developed integrated safety controller (ACU) has received the highest ASIL D functional safety certification. The certification was awarded by SGS on July 23.

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto announced on July 24 that its proprietary integrated safety controller (ACU) has been awarded the Automotive Functional Safety ASIL D certification. The certification, representing the highest possible level, was issued by the independent certification body SGS on July 23.
The ACU serves as the core hub for a vehicle's occupant protection system, critically responsible for deploying safety devices like airbags and seatbelts during collisions. Achieving ASIL D signifies that the controller's hardware, low-level software, operating system, and application algorithms meet the most stringent international standards for functional safety.
Li Auto states the controller is entirely self-developed, breaking down data barriers between passive and active safety systems. This allows for deep synergy and full integration across perception, decision-making, and execution processes.
Zhao Hui, SGS China Vice President, highlighted at the ceremony that this is the first certification project for a fully self-developed integrated safety controller by an OEM within SGS's global operations.
The ASIL D standard is the highest automotive safety integrity level. It ensures that the controller can effectively identify and manage faults, even in chips, communication systems, sensors, or software, guaranteeing timely, precise, and reliable execution of protective actions in critical situations.
