Lifebanc Reports Nearly 300 Lives Saved Through Organ Donation in First Half of 2026

Lifebanc, the nonprofit organ procurement organization serving Northeast Ohio, announced that 296 lives were saved through organ donation in the first six months of 2026. As of June 30, the organization facilitated a 5% increase in lives saved compared to the first half of 2025.

The organization also reported increases in organ donors, organs transplanted, and tissue gifts recovered. Lifebanc highlighted the generosity of donor families, stating their decisions provided hundreds of individuals with a second chance at life.

Compared to the first half of 2025, Lifebanc saw 114 organ donors, an 18% increase. The number of organs transplanted rose by 7% to 326, and 7,208 tissue gifts were recovered, an 11% increase.

Lifebanc attributed the growth to strategic initiatives, including a 24/7 operational leadership approach and the implementation of electronic referral technology for donation requests. This technology has been adopted by five hospital systems, aiming to expedite decision-making and increase donation opportunities.
