Lifenet and Eisai Co-Develop Dementia Insurance "be"

Lifenet Insurance Company and Eisai Co., Ltd. announced the co-development of "be," a new dementia insurance policy. This initiative aims to support the early detection and treatment of dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Dementia prevalence is increasing globally due to aging populations. In Japan, it is estimated that by 2025, approximately one in five individuals aged 65 and older will be living with dementia. This condition places significant financial and emotional burdens on both patients and their families, often exceeding the coverage provided by standard healthcare.

The development of "be" stems from a capital and business alliance agreement established between Lifenet and Eisai in August 2022. The partnership seeks to alleviate the burden of medical and nursing care costs for the aging Japanese society.

The "be" insurance offers comprehensive coverage starting from the MCI stage, thereby promoting earlier treatment options. Complementing the insurance, a LINE account named "Brenavi" will be launched, providing information on brain health, early dementia detection, and aftercare. Policyholders will also gain access to Eisai's NouKNOW® self-assessment tool for brain health, facilitating monitoring and improvement.
