Lifting trolley and roller handling reduce downtime at German cheese dairy

German cheese producer Ostemejeriet Altenburger Land has adopted a lifting trolley from Hovmand A/S to enhance production efficiency and reduce physical strain on employees. The equipment is used for handling large foil rolls used in food packaging.

Following a production realignment in 2019, the dairy began using heavier foil rolls, weighing up to 30 kg, for packaging. Previously, these were manually transported from storage to the production line and loaded into packaging machines, leading to back injuries and significant downtime.

To address these issues, Altenburger Land implemented Hovmand's mobile INOX 90 S lifting trolley, equipped with a 90-degree rotating roller lift. This allows a single employee to lift, rotate, and place the heavy rolls into the packaging machine effortlessly. The trolley also simplifies the transport of multiple rolls to the packaging lines, reducing the need for frequent trips to the warehouse.

The company reports that the implementation has led to optimized production, fewer interruptions, and a marked improvement in employee ergonomics. The choice of Hovmand was also influenced by the quality of the equipment and its stainless steel construction, essential for the food industry.
