Light to Launch Minimalist Flip Phone
Light's new Light Phone III is a flip phone designed to offer smartphone-like features with fewer distractions for users seeking a simpler mobile experience.

Tech company Light has introduced its new Light Phone III, a flip phone that continues the company's minimalist ethos. The device aims to provide core smartphone functionalities without the constant interruptions often associated with smart devices.
According to company co-founder Kaiwei Tang, the Light Phone III was developed in response to user feedback. Many users, particularly younger demographics, expressed a dislike for smartphones and even devices that resembled them. "We have users who tell us, 'I hate smartphones. I don't want to be seen using... '", Tang stated.
Despite its minimalist approach, the Light Phone III represents an evolution from previous models. It features a rectangular design, a touchscreen, and a camera, making it more versatile than traditional feature phones. The goal is to balance usability with a reduced reliance on digital distractions.
Light's strategy targets a growing demand for digital detox and privacy. The new flip phone offers an alternative for individuals seeking a more balanced relationship with technology, without the constant presence of a smartphone in daily life.
