Lightspeed Sells PhysicsWallah Stake for ₹550 Crore
Venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners has exited edtech major PhysicsWallah (PW), selling its shares for approximately ₹549.7 crore through block and bulk deals.

Venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners has divested its entire stake in edtech company PhysicsWallah (PW) for approximately ₹549.7 crore. The transaction was executed through block and bulk deals on the stock market.
Lightspeed sold 46.7 million shares at a weighted average price of ₹117.72 per share, representing a discount of 6.7% to the stock's closing price. This move signifies Lightspeed's complete exit from its investment in the edtech sector.
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund emerged as the largest buyer, acquiring 22 million shares worth ₹259 crore, accounting for nearly half of the total volume traded. Other notable buyers included Goldman Sachs, Ghisallo Master Fund, Societe Generale, and Morgan Stanley Asia.
Lightspeed initially invested in PhysicsWallah during its Series B funding round in September 2024. While PhysicsWallah's stock performance has been mixed since its public listing, the company has shown efforts to improve its financial standing. Net losses were significantly reduced in FY26, although a net loss was still reported in Q1 FY27. However, operating revenue saw substantial growth during the same period.
