Lightspeed targets $250 million for India-SEA AI fund

Venture capital firm Lightspeed is aiming to raise $250 million for a new fund dedicated to early-stage artificial intelligence companies in India and Southeast Asia. The fund is expected to begin making investments within the next two months, according to an investor letter.

This new vehicle, Lightspeed India Partners V, follows the firm's 2022 regional fund, which successfully raised $500 million. Approximately 80% of that previous fund's capital has already been committed to investments, the letter indicated.

The firm has set a lower target for this fund due to its current pace of investment and a shorter investment period of about two and a half years. The focus on AI aligns with global trends and India's issuance of AI governance guidelines in 2026.

Lightspeed manages over $65 billion in assets globally and raised $9 billion across new funds in December 2025. The firm has a history of investing in the India and Southeast Asia technology sectors.
