Lincoln Avenue Communities begins construction on affordable senior housing in Channahon
Lincoln Avenue Communities has commenced construction on The Talia, a 40-unit housing development for seniors in Channahon, Illinois, with completion scheduled for 2027.
Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) has broken ground on The Talia, a residential development located at West Drake Drive and South Plainview Drive in Channahon, Illinois. The project is designed to provide 40 affordable housing units specifically for adults aged 55 and older.
The development will offer varying levels of affordability, with 30 units reserved for households earning up to 60% of the area median income (AMI) and 10 units for those at the 30% AMI level. The project is financed in part through federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits awarded by the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
Designed to meet National Green Building Standard and Net Zero certifications, the facility will include community amenities such as a fitness center and garden areas. Rep. Darin LaHood, who attended the groundbreaking, cited the project as an example of the impact of the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Improvement Act. Construction is slated for completion in 2027.
