Lindian Resources Rare Earths Project Advances Towards December Production
Lindian Resources' Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi has made significant construction advancements, moving closer to first monazite concentrate production targeted for December 2026.

Lindian Resources has announced significant progress in the construction phase of its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi, with the project on track for its first monazite concentrate production in December 2026. Key processing equipment has been installed, electrical works are advancing, and ore inventories are increasing, according to a company update.
The construction and commissioning readiness activities are nearing completion. Ore stockpiles have grown to approximately 149,000 tonnes, a 19% increase from September. Crucial power infrastructure milestones have been achieved, including the commissioning of a 33kV overhead line to the transformer yard. Site energisation is anticipated for the first week of November 2026, supported by the return of two 1,250 kVA plant transformers after factory acceptance testing.
Separation circuit construction is also progressing, with structural steel for areas like the WHIMS and MGS approximately 90% complete and shaking tables installation at 80%. The regrind mill installation is finished. Lindian is transitioning to an operational phase, with initial operating personnel on board, operator training commenced, and outbound concentrate logistics contracts nearing finalisation.
Lindian Resources Executive Director Zac Komur stated, "Kangankunde is in the final stretch of construction. Our target is clear: first monazite concentrate in December." He added that the plant is taking shape, ore stockpiles are growing, and the focus is on completing remaining work and commissioning safely, bringing the company closer to becoming a rare earths producer.
