Lingnan University Chinese Medicine Clinic has announced its schedule for Tianjiu Therapy services during the summer of 2026, running from July 14 to August 18. Tianjiu Therapy, also known as acupuncture point herbal patching, is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that utilizes herbal patches applied to specific acupoints to stimulate the skin.

The therapy is based on the traditional Chinese medicine principle that applying these herbal patches during the hottest periods of summer ('San Fu Tian', typically mid-July to mid-August) can help regulate the body's 'yang energy' (阳气) and enhance physical constitution for disease prevention. Contemporary clinical research suggests potential benefits for chronic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, gastrointestinal discomfort, chronic low back pain, and gynecological issues.

The treatment process involves an assessment by a Chinese medicine practitioner who selects relevant acupoints, usually on the upper or lower back. Six to eight herbal patches are applied and left on for 30 minutes to 2 hours. The full course consists of three sessions, scheduled approximately 7 to 10 days apart.

The standard fee, including consultation, is HK$200 per session (HK$600 for the full course). A discounted rate of HK$170 per session (HK$510 for the full course) is available for Lingnan University members. Appointments are necessary due to the preparation time required for the herbal patches.

Interested individuals are advised to book appointments in advance via phone or the clinic's online booking form. The clinic notes that mild reactions like burning, itching, or redness are normal. The therapy is not suitable for individuals in acute illness stages, with fever, or during active COVID-19 infection.
