Lingnan University Clinic Offers Tianjiu Therapy This Summer
Lingnan University's Chinese Medicine Clinic will offer Tianjiu Therapy during the summer San-fu days from July 14 to August 18, 2026. The treatment uses herbal patches on acupoints for chronic conditions.

Lingnan University's Chinese Medicine Clinic has announced the availability of Tianjiu Therapy for its 2026 summer session, running from July 14 to August 18. This traditional Chinese medicine treatment, also known as Acupoint Herbal Patching, involves applying herbal paste to specific acupoints.
The therapy aims to modulate the body's immunity and address chronic conditions associated with "cold-deficiency" in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The optimal timing for this treatment is during summer (Sanfu days) and after the winter solstice (Sanjiu days), when it is believed to promote the body's yang-qi and enhance resilience. Clinical studies suggest potential benefits for nasal allergies, asthma, bowel discomfort, lower back pain, and menstrual issues, as well as possible relief for post-COVID symptoms like fatigue.
During a session, TCM practitioners conduct assessments to select appropriate acupoints, typically on the upper and lower back. An average of 6-8 herbal patches are applied for 2-4 hours. A course of three treatments, spaced about 7-10 days apart, is generally recommended.
The regular charge is HK$200 per dose, with a package for three doses costing HK$600. Special rates are available for Lingnan University staff and students. Advance booking is required for the preparation of the herbal paste. The clinic advises that the therapy is not suitable for acute conditions, fever, or active COVID-19 infections.
