Lingnan University Expands Mainland China Collaborations with Focus on AI and Innovation

Lingnan University (LU) in Hong Kong has signed memorandums of understanding with three mainland Chinese institutions: the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Ocean University of China. These agreements aim to deepen collaboration in postgraduate admissions, scientific research, talent cultivation, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

LU President Professor Leonard K. K. Chan met with Professor Hu Jun, President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, during the 2026 Times Higher Education Asia Universities Digitalization Conference. The discussions focused on AI development and LU's achievements in digital education. A memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance cooperation in AI research, student exchange, innovation and entrepreneurship, and joint research projects.

Additionally, Lingnan University signed an agreement with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to foster student and staff exchanges, collaborative research, and postgraduate training, with a specific emphasis on the intersection of AI and aerospace technology. A separate agreement with Ocean University of China was also finalized, focusing on postgraduate study pathways.

During the period, LU also welcomed a delegation from the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology. Discussions highlighted potential collaborations in digital economy and entrepreneurship, particularly in AI education and youth entrepreneurship initiatives. Lingnan University intends to continue serving as a bridge for higher education exchange between Hong Kong and mainland China, expanding its network and promoting innovation in liberal arts education for the digital age.
