Lingnan University Scholar Song Yongduan Elected Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering

Professor Song Yongduan, Dean of the School of Data Science and Chair Professor of Industrial Data Science at Lingnan University, has been elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). The results, announced on November 21, include him among the 24 newly elected foreign academicians for 2025. This honor acknowledges Professor Song's significant international contributions to control science and engineering.

Lingnan University President S. Joe Qin congratulated Professor Song, stating that the election is a well-deserved recognition of his scholarly achievements and highlights the university's growing capabilities in frontier research. He added that the university will continue to attract world-class scholars and advance the translation of research into practical applications.

Prior to his role at Lingnan University, Professor Song served as Founding Director of the Center for Cooperative Systems at the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) in the US. He has authored 12 books, published over 400 scientific papers, holds approximately 100 patents, and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems.

Since 2021, Professor Song has been recognized among Stanford University's World's Top 2% Scientists and listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate. In his capacity as Dean of the School of Data Science, he will lead academic and administrative efforts in teaching, research, and curriculum development, while fostering international collaborations.
