LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky to leave Microsoft

Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of Microsoft’s professional networking service LinkedIn, will leave the company at the end of 2026. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the departure in a memo to employees on Thursday.

Roslansky led LinkedIn for six years, overseeing its growth from 700 million to 1.3 billion members. Last year, he also took on additional responsibilities within Microsoft’s Office productivity software group. His departure is part of a broader leadership transition at Microsoft, with other key executives like gaming head Phil Spencer and Office leader Rajesh Jha also leaving this year.

In his memo, Roslansky cited personal reasons for his departure, stating that the next phase of his work would require him to be at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond full-time, while his life and family are based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Earlier this year, LinkedIn’s chief operating officer, Dan Shapero, was appointed as the new CEO of LinkedIn.

Microsoft has been actively evolving its product offerings, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence. Nadella acknowledged Roslansky’s contributions to the unified Copilot app, which Microsoft recently unveiled. The company reported in July that LinkedIn’s revenue growth had accelerated to 11% for the past fiscal year.
