LinkedIn Expands Creator and Side Hustle Ecosystem with New Monetization Tools

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn is enhancing its platform for content creators and side hustlers by introducing new monetization features. Users will soon be able to offer paid consultations and share revenue from video ads.

LinkedIn, a subsidiary of Microsoft, is accelerating its transition from a purely professional networking site to a platform supporting side hustlers and content creators. The company is rolling out new tools designed to offer creators more ways to monetize their presence and engage with their audience.

Key additions include a 'Creator Console' to help users track content performance, identify growth opportunities, and explore monetization paths. Additionally, LinkedIn plans to offer revenue sharing for video ads placed on natively published videos, provided certain criteria are met.

A significant new feature will allow users to offer one-on-one paid consultations directly through their profiles. This move aims to broaden the platform's utility beyond job searching and traditional networking into a space for service provision and expertise sharing.

Beyond monetization, LinkedIn is also refining its networking experience. Users will gain the ability to design personalized digital business cards for their mobile wallets. Enhanced features for premium members include private profile notes for tracking contact information, and a test of a 'Network Feed' in select regions that limits content to direct connections and followed accounts.
